- Oral surgery
- Oral surgery is the branch of maxillofacial surgery that deals with the surgery of the mouth.
The maxillofacial surgeon is also a specialist in oral surgery.
Oral surgeries are usually performed under local anesthesia as outpatient surgery and include a large number of procedures:
- simple and complex dental extractions
- impacted teeth removal
- removal of impacted III molars (wisdom teeth)

- removal of cystic lesions of jaws

- apicectomy (removal of the apex of tooth) and retrograde filling of teeth with chronic apical periodontitis

- removal of small tumors of the oral cavity (i.e.: fibroids, papillomas, etc.)
Tumor of oral mucosa at the upper jaw
- biopsies
- periodontal surgery
- pre-prosthetic surgery of the soft tissues and bone surgery (i.e. removal of bone exostosis)
Today oral surgery also uses important instrumentation aids such as microscopy, piezosurgery and laser.
